A rare sight indeed - the two surviving "Warship" locomotives double heading the same train (complete with "Cornish Riviera Express" headboard!) on the West Somerset Railway during the 2010 Mixed Traffic Gala.
Although based on a very successful design (the German V200) these locomotives had a very short service life (1958-1972) as a result of changes in traction policy within British Railways. Most were scrapped by the end of 1972.
For more information on the Warship locomotives, please see en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Rail_Class_42.

in short, the entirety of my christmas wishlist (that doesn't actually exist).
spent an hour or two today in barnes & nobles breathing in Rilke's beautiful poetry...
here are a few quotes from The Book of Hours:
"I believe in the night"
- from I, 11
"But when I lean over the chasm of myself
it seems
my God is dark
and like a web: a hundred roots
silently drinking
This is the ferment I grow out of..."
- from I, 3
"I want to unfold.
Let no place in me hold itself closed,
for where I am closed, I am false.
I want to stay clear in your sight."
- I, 13
"He who will overcome you is working in silence."
- I, 49
